Children's Hospice South West Partnership 28/02/24 - 01/08/24

Not On Your Tod are delighted to announce that our first charity partner Children's Hospice South West.

About Children’s Hospice South West

They provide hospice care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their whole family across the South West. The care they offer is wide ranging; respite and short breaks, emergency care, palliative care and end of life care. We operate 3 hospices; Little Bridge House in North Devon, Charlton Farm in North Somerset and Little Harbour in mid Cornwall.

They offer a home from home where children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families can take a short break away from home to re-charge their batteries in a homely, warm and welcoming environment. Providing a much-needed break from the ongoing strains of caring for their children at home, juggling professional and medical appointments as well as maintaining family life and employment. In the main they provide respite, the chance for families to get away from it all, but we also offer emergency and palliative care in a peaceful and comfortable setting.

You'd be forgiven for thinking that their hospices are like hospitals, but they are fully accessible and have been built and designed to be like a home-from-home.

The Care Teams at the hospices create a relaxed, informal but very supportive atmosphere and there are many facilities for all the family to enjoy including:

  • Hydrotherapy pool
  • Games room with activities and computer games
  • Messy play room for art, craft, sand and water play
  • Relaxing multi-sensory room
  • Soft play room for energetic play
  • Wide range of different toys and games
  • Large garden with good access

Exeter Leukaemia Fund Partnership 26/05/23 - 26/09/23

Not On Your Tod are delighted to announce that our first charity partner is Exeter Leukaemia Fund.
ELF is a registered charity providing vital support to patients with blood cancer and other disorders, who attend the Haematology Centre at Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. Founded in 1980 by Dr Miles Joyner, a consultant haematologist at the RD&E, Dr Joyner wished to improve the lives of patients with blood cancer and blood disorders through improved facilities, better equipment and the funding of research. Today, Exeter Leukaemia Fund continues its support of the Haematology Centre, whilst offering support services to help patients through their cancer journey. Some of the services include counselling and wellbeing support, aromatherapy, transport, financial support and emergency support grants.
Treatment for blood cancer often requires lengthy procedures, meaning days, weeks, or months at a time in hospital and in a lot of cases years of follow up appointments.
One example of the support ELF provide is the following story below.

Case Study Quote Sophia

One family supported by ELF is Sophia’s, who at just 14 months old, faced months of treatment following a devastating leukaemia diagnosis in August 2022. ELF has been on hand to provide Sophia’s family with support from the start. ELF continues to provide lifts to Sophia’s appointments, issued her family with a financial support grant as Sophia’s mum takes time out of work to care full-time for her daughter, given Sophia's father and four-year-old brother a day out at the football, and made sure there were gifts for Sophia and her brother under the tree at Christmas. Her mother wrote to us to say; ‘Thank you so much!! You have no idea how much I appreciate this…Thank you for helping take some stress away’.
