Kristy Morgan - Breaking Free: How Removing Alcohol Changed My Life

I used to believe I was living my best life, going out, laughing, and having fun. But in reality, every moment was accompanied by a drink in my hand, and the next day was anything but fun.

I would set limits, give myself targets, and try to be sensible. On the rare occasions I arranged a lift home, I even felt proud of myself. But looking back, all that really did was give me the green light to drink even more.

I tried everything—cutting down, moderating, switching drinks, only drinking on weekends, and every other trick in the book. You name it, I tried it. I explored every possible way to maintain a balance, but nothing worked.

The thought of not drinking made me feel lost. I was frustrated and angry that I couldn't drink like everyone else. I convinced myself that alcohol was the key to fun, confidence, and connection. How could I possibly enjoy nights out, social events, or even just life in general without it? Would people think I was boring if I wasn’t drinking?

But here’s what I didn’t realise—life without alcohol is BETTER than I ever imagined. Once you remove it, you start to truly understand yourself. The layers begin to unpeel, and you see life for what it really is. And let me tell you, downing drink after drink like it's going out of fashion isn’t what life is about.

The freedom from hangovers, remorse, guilt, and embarrassment is a gift I hold onto tightly. I wake up feeling fresh, proud of my choices, and genuinely happy.

You don’t have to hit rock bottom to reassess your relationship with alcohol. For me, I know it was only a matter of time before it took me down a road I didn’t want to go.

I’m truly grateful that I made the decision to remove alcohol from my life. It’s not always easy, but it is absolutely WORTH IT.

If you’re questioning your relationship with alcohol, just know that you’re not alone. And on the other side? There’s a life you never even knew was possible—one filled with clarity, confidence, and true happiness.

"I Love what NOYT stands for, you can make a change and create a new life"
